In 1999 the school had only two houses: Curtis and Holt.  Then due to the increase in student numbers in 2003, two new sport houses – Yarga and Waiburra, were added.  The new names of Waiburra; meaning fire and Yarga; meaning wind, are from the language of the Wangerriburra group of the Yugambeh people.  The Wangerriburra people are the original inhabitants of the plateau that we call Tamborine Mountain, and the surrounding valleys.

The students in these respective houses decided on the names after extensive discussion.  Our four house names now acknowledge that long heritage of indigenous people, as well as that of more recent settlers.
